The class of 2026 graduates on the terrace

May 16, 2026

Five hundred and thirty-one degrees were conferred, with the Hudson behind the platform.

Elena Hartigan, class of 1998, gave the address. A structural engineer, she spoke about the difference between a demanding first job and a life’s work. President Marlow’s remarks lasted eight minutes.

The graduates returned their markers to the surveyor’s chest in the morning, and the ceremony ended, as it always does, with the President’s “Pencils down.” Receptions were held at the house tables. By evening the chairs had been cleared from the lawn, and the boat club had a shell on the water.
