The Mules open the home rugby season

The library steps were full before kickoff, and the bell rang three times afterward.

The men’s and women’s sides opened the home season on the first cold Saturday of the fall. Students from all four houses filled the steps below Founders Library, and Dock stood on the sideline in his plain black blanket. The Pep Band played from the top step.

Both matches were close. The women won by a converted try in the final minutes, and the handlers rang the terrace bell three times. Afterward the Quad Club gathered on the steps, as it does on most home Saturdays.
