Seniors stamp their markers
September 5, 2026
The class of 2027 took its brass markers to the foundry, as every senior class has since 1931.
On the first Saturday of the term the seniors lined up outside the Tolliver Foundry with the markers they drew on Bell Night in 2023. The materials shop stamped each student’s initials on the back, beside the class die, a small pattern of a level bubble that the class designed in its first spring.
Several markers needed a careful choice of position. The oldest in the chest now carries thirty-one sets of initials. Its holder this year said she had read all of them and recognized two, both from the faculty.
